As soon as I met everyone in the Marketing and Communications Department at REHAU, I knew this is where I wanted to be for the summer. The positive and upbeat environment they created made me excited to come to work every single day. Throughout my internship, I was encouraged to be as creative as possible and made to feel like a valued member of the team – not just an intern who would make copies and get coffee.
My supervisor, Corrie Neukirchner, was a great mentor who was always open and honest with me. We met weekly to discuss each project, where she would then give me advice and guidance. I worked on a variety of projects such as planning, shooting and editing videos, designing content for social media platforms and designing the concept for the intern webpage. I gained a lot of valuable photography and videography skills during my internship that I was unable to learn within my major at school. As I planned, shot and edited videos for REHAU, I learned how to use Adobe Creative Cloud Suite. But by far my favorite project was planning the intern photoshoot and webpage you’re looking at now.
I enjoyed being able to see each of my projects through from start to finish. For one of my projects, creating a promotional video for our Practicing Wellness Initiative, I had the idea of filming the sunrise above the building. My team helped me make this idea into a reality and gave me the tools to do so. I was even able to see the content I created featured on REHAU’s social media platforms.
This internship gave me the opportunity to figure out what I wanted to pursue in a career. It validated my passions and provided me with opportunities to develop as a professional.
