Travel 418 kilometres south of Perth and you’ll arrive in the port city of Albany. A doorway to the goldfields in the late 19th and early 20th century, Albany has transformed itself into a significant tourist destination and an excellent base from which to explore the many wonders of the Great Southern region of Western Australia.
One of these many wonders is the new Albany Entertainment Centre, a state of the art performing arts and convention centre that sets a new national benchmark for regional performing arts spaces.
With spectacular views of Princess Royal Harbour from the second level Hanover Room, the stunning design by award-winning architects Cox Howlett & Bailey Woodland features a 620 seat 12 metre proscenium arch theatre with the flexible Kalyenup Studio able to seat an additional 200. Add to this flying facilities, orchestra pit and cutting edge theatre lighting and audio systems, the venue is capable of holding a broad range of events.
Commissioned in 2006, the AU$70million dollar project was overseen by Doric, a well known and respected West Australian building company founded in 1989. The plumbing work was carried out by Selected Plumbing using REHAU His 311 for the hot and cold water applications. REHAU was also called upon for the flow and return lines. A range of REHAU pipe sizes were used in this iconic building, from 16mm up to 50mm.
Regarding the use of REHAU plumbing supplies, Damon Martin, Manager of Selected Plumbing had this to say, “REHAU is our preferred choice due to ease of installation & support. We’ve used REHAU in many of our projects, including AEC, Ellenbrook Shopping Centre, Waterford Shopping Centre & Fitzgerald Street apartments”.
