Erlangen, 30 October 2024 – At the leading industry trade fair, Glasstec 2024 in Düsseldorf, guests had the opportunity to experience the two industry leaders REHAU Window Solutions and its exclusive partner Gauzy presenting a groundbreaking solution that is redefining modern glazing: REHAU Smart Privacy.

At Gauzy's booth, the partners showcased the longstanding success story of their exclusive collaboration in the field of architectural exterior applications: Fully integrated intelligent glass systems offering a wide range of privacy and shading solutions, with REHAU Smart Privacy as the centerpiece. A switchable glass integrated into an ARTEVO profile system that actively changes its state to showcase a custom invisible laser patterned design was to be seen.

REHAU Smart Privacy

The REHAU Smart Glass window is based on a liquid crystal film embedded in laminated glass, whose liquid crystals change their orientation when a voltage is applied. It is possible to switch between transparent and opaque within a few milliseconds: Smart Privacy. The solution is more cost-effective and faster in state transition compared to similar existing technologies (e.g., electrochromic). Smart Privacy’s integration into existing Smart Home systems is seamless thanks to the universal Matter standard. Matter allows cross-brand communication between smart home devices, enabling products from different manufacturers to interact.

REHAU ARTEVO

ARTEVO is a premium window system designed from scratch with clear and angular contours. Using the fibre composite material RAU-FIPRO X, the ARTEVO premium window system enables planners, architects and building owners to create architectural designs in dimensions that were previously not possible, for example floor-to-ceiling window elements with sash heights of up to 2.80 metres. Up to a height of 2.45 metres, steel reinforcements can be completely dispensed with. Particularly narrow views additionally enlarge the window areas and allow architectural realisations with a maximum of natural light.
