Erlangen. – Profitable, sustainable growth is the main objective for REHAU. The independent family-run company has decided to take a new strategic direction within the Building Solutions division. Going forward, REHAU will be switching its focus to the Building Technologies and Water and Telecommunications subdivisions. The company is planning to conclude the sale of its Cable Management division by the start of 2020 to the German family-run company OBO Bettermann, pending approval of the competition authorities.
Polymer specialist REHAU currently manufactures and sells products within its Cable Management subdivision for electrical and network technology for secure installation in residential and non-residential spaces. As part of its new strategy in Building Solutions, the family-run company is selling this division to the German family-run company OBO Bettermann, pending approval of the Federal Cartel Office. The leading manufacturer of installation systems for the electrotechnical equipment of buildings and plants is planning to sharpen its strategic focus and further expand its international presence through the purchase of the REHAU division.
“We are conscious of our responsibility towards our employees but also towards our customers. This new strategic direction, which includes the sale of the Cable Management division, represents an important step for Building Solutions. With OBO Bettermann both our employees and our customers will be getting an experienced partner, one which shares the same values as REHAU. We have a great deal of faith in the new owner's ability to continue to steer a steady ship,” explains Dr Roger Schönborn, Head of Building Solutions at REHAU, referring to the decision to sell the division.
The plan is for REHAU to manage operations as before up until the end of 2019. From the start of 2020, OBO Bettermann will take over marketing activities of the PVC trunking range, initially under the brand “REHAU – Cable Management by OBO”.
