German School in Johannesburg chooses uPVC windows and doors double glazing for energy efficiency
The renovations at the Deutsche Internationale Schule Johannesburg (DSJ) entailed replacing outdated windows and doors with a modern, double glazed uPVC system.
DSJ wanted to invest in long lasting, low maintenance, high insulation windows that improve energy efficiency at the school. The DSJ thus chose to use REHAU uPVC windows and doors, manufactured and installed by Teva Windows, a REHAU Authorised Partner.
Teva Windows came highly recommended. Their long track record, including projects at the Deutsche Schule Pretoria and at the French Lycee Jules Verne persuaded the DSJ team that Teva could meet their high standards of excellence.
The school's stringent requirements stipulated that work could only be done from 14h00 to 22h00 during the week. Work also continued during some weekends and public holidays to make the most of after school hours, as well as during the July and December 2018 holidays.
Teva supplied close to 4000 panes of glass weighing more than 135 tons. Styles included French doors, Tilt and Turn windows and custom sections. In keeping with the school's original design, back painted fixed panels were installed at floor level.
Double glazing was used throughout for maximum energy savings and noise reduction.
