When the ocean is too noisy
The owners of this colourful seaside property needed sound reducing windows for a quiet home.
The property is situated on the beach in The Bluff, Durban and the constant noise of the waves crashing on the shore was too intrusive for the home owners. From experience during an overseas stay, the owners knew that double glazed uPVC windows reduce outside noise substantially. In order to bring quiet and calm into their home, they appointed Ecovista, a REHAU Authorised Partner, to replace their traditional aluminium windows with modern uPVC windows.
Ecovista has currently completed the second phase of the replacement project, which entailed replacing fixed, top hung and side hung windows, two of them with arches. The arched uPVC sections were manufactured by REHAU Authorised Partner, T&T Plastics, in Cape Town. All windows were fitted with double glazing.
The other reason for which the home owner chose REHAU's uPVC window profiles is their durability. They are well suited to the coastal climate, as they do not deteriorate with exposure to the corrosive sea air. They will never need to be sanded, painted or varnished, neither will they rot or warp.
The third phase of this project entails replacing the windows facing the sea front, which will commence in 2020.
