Growing in Capability
1948
Founded in the Bavarian town of Rehau. Three employees, one extruder. Initial products included shoe welting, garden hoses and automotive components.
1951
Manufacturing of arm straps and sideboards begins for the VW Beetle.
1954
REHAU participates in Germany’s first heart operation using silicone tubes.
1958
Extrusion of first PVC window profile and first magnetic gasket system for refrigerator doors.
1962
REHAU Plastics Ltd formed in the UK. Head Office and warehouse opened in Slough.
1969
Manchester Sales Office is opened.
1970
The first UK Automotive Department starts up at Slough with the development of bumper pads for the Mark III Ford Cortina.
1975
Amlwch production facility is opened.
1979
Continued expansion and a second factory established at Blaenau-Ffestiniog.
1987
The company name changes from "REHAU Plastics Ltd" to "REHAU Ltd".
1995
New Year's Eve marks the most significant development of REHAU UK: the opening of the new headquarters in Ross-on-Wye. The entire head office is relocated from Slough to Hill Court.
1998
New sales offices are opened at Glasgow and Dublin.
2002
REHAU Academy is launched.
2003
REHAU celebrated its 40th anniversary trading in the UK.
2004
Launch of Polytec50 and RAUSOLID surfaces
2005
Launch of REHAU-Edge - Fully Sculptured 70mm System.
2011
REHAU has won the Bavarian Quality Prize in the Industry category for outstanding process and product quality
2013
Red Dot Design Award for the glass laminate RAUVISIO crystal as well as the room controller Nea for controlling radiant floor heating systems.
2017
REHAU is now an approved material manufacturer for BOEING with the RAU-FLIGHT material being developed in-house.
2019
Two new systems for more comfort and safety: The RE.SOURCE water dispenser and the smart RE.GUARD water control device.
The UK also launches the Rio flush fit window, the alternative solution to timber windows.
